Last.fm

This is an internet radio station. Anyone who owns the copyright to some music can upload it here and collect royalties when the music is played.

Eventful

This is an interesting tool that lets people “demand” performers to come do a show in their town. This helps the performers, since if they book a show in a place that has lots of demands, they can be fairly sure a lot of people will show up. Anyone can sign up for a performer’s account here.

Feedburner

This takes the RSS feed from your site and does cool stuff with it, like makes it readable on any platform, keeps track of how many subscribers you have, etc. Useful stuff.

Payloadz

This is a service that allows you to set up your own web shop on your own website. I’m using this. Check out my Shop page to see an example of what it looks like.

Blogtoplist.com

Exactly what the title says. A blog toplist. This could help you get the word out about your blog, if you have one.

Statcounter

A hit counter and much more. With this you can analyze the traffic to your site in a whole bunch of different ways. How many came to see your website, where they came from, how long they stayed, what pages they viewed, what they downloaded, etc.

Technorati

A blog directory. Another way to get the word out about your blog. Not entirely sure about the usefulness yet, as I have yet to get a single hit via Technorati.

Blogcatalog.com

Huge blog directory with forums and stuff. Good place to meet people and find interesting blogs.

Bob Baker’s The Buzz Factor

Links and other stuff about marketing yourself as an indie musician.

Trent Reznor case study

Video about Trent Reznor and NIN’s business model. A must see for any indie musician.
