Augh… It’s freakin’ boiling here at the moment. 30 degrees C in the shade outside, and about the same indoors, since we don’t have air conditioning. I spent a good chunk of the day recording a new song, but progress was a bit slow. So hot…
I’m pretty happy with how the song is turning out, though. The way I record my music is a bit random. I don’t really plan anything ahead. I have a general idea of how I want the song to sound when I write it, but the rest is pretty much a spur of the moment thing. I record the drums first, and then I play around with the guitar until I find something that sounds good. The way it sounds then gives me more clues about how the rest of the song should sound, so it kind of grows into a finished recording. Sometimes it ends up sounding pretty different from what I originally planned, but it’s a lot of fun.
I was working on a song called “Reason to fear” a couple of days ago, and by the time it was almost finished, I really didn’t like how it sounded. So I left it at that, and went back to the lyrics and just a guitar and played around a bit. After some fiddling around, I found a completely different way of playing the song that I think I might like better. I might re-record the whole thing later on and see how it ends up.
I went to the library last week and got some books about bookkeeping and marketing. I started reading about bookkeeping, and so far I must say it’s incredibly booooooring stuff. One of the books is called “100 pages of bookkeeping for those who hate it”. The preface stated that it would be an inspirational book that explains everything pretty thoroughly, since a lot of people have the attitude “I will never be able to learn this”. Ok, I know virtually nothing about bookkeeping, so I figured it would be a good place to start. After reading about a third of the book, I’m inclined to say the authors failed miserably. The book is anything but inspirational. It’s confusing, doesn’t explain things well, and completely fails to make the topic interesting. In fact, it rather makes it downright dreadful. Blah… I’m gonna have a look at the other book I borrowed and see if it is any better.
